The Supreme Court of Tokyo has finalised double Olympic champion Masato Uchishiba's five-year prison term for raping a girl in 2011 ©Getty ImagesThe five-year prison sentence for double Olympic judo champion Masato Uchishiba for raping a girl in 2011 has been finalised by the Supreme Court of Japan.

The Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 under 66 kilogram champion was handed the sentence in February 2013, after he raped a member of the women's judo club from Kyushu University of Nursing and Social Welfare when she drunkenly fell asleep in a Tokyo hotel in September 2011.

Uchishiba pleaded not guilty and maintained throughout the trial that the sex with the teenage student had been consensual.

Despite his pleas, the High Court upheld the lower court decision in December calling his claim of innocence "illogical".

The 35-year-old's latest objection on April 23 to the Supreme Court was rejected today, with it choosing to uphold the decisions made by the High Court and lower court.
