The seminars were held with support from the 2013 Agitos Foundation Grant Support Programme and aimedto develop the technical aspects of the sport in the country with a long-term goal of holding an IPC Powerlifting recognised national championship in the future.

Fifteen powerlifters, coaches and referees with experience of able-bodied lifting took part on the refereeing course conducted by category one international referee and IPC powerlifting head of officiating, Azzam Sari Ali Al-Zubi from Jordan.

Malaysian Nor Azimah Bahauddin oversaw the classifiers course attended by a number of medical professionals.

The seminar in Turkmenistan was one of 30 projects to receive funding through the 2013 Agitos Foundation Grant Support Programme, which says it has contributed around €630,000 (£526,000/$861,000) to Para-sport projects around the world.

Agitos, the development arm of the IPC, has set aside €650,000 (£536,000/$890,000) for projects in 2014 and is now inviting applications to receive funding up until May 15.
