Set to be held in Suhl, Germany, from July 17 to 28, the Championships will see around 300 athletes take to the Suhl Shooting Sports Centre to compete in the biggest Para-shooting event between London 2012 and Rio 2016.

With just 15 weeks to go until the event, organisers have also revealed the Opening Ceremony, scheduled for 18 July, will take place in Suhl city centre on the Platz der Deutschen Einheit.

After the official ceremony, an AC/DC tribute band will entertain the athletes and local crowds.

The IPC, alongside the Thuringia Shooting Federation, are committed in developing inclusive shooting sport in the Suhl region and have already organised try -out sessions for a number of local athletes with an impairment.

They have also ensured the Suhl Shooting Centre is accessible for the expected 300 athletes with the Centre committed to being barrier-free.

Local school children are also taking part in projects related to the Championships, finding out more about the sport and the Paralympic Movement in general.

Big crowds are expected to attend the Championships which will feature 17 medal events.

Organisers are still on the look-out for volunteers to fulfil a number of roles and have urged those interested in volunteering to contact [email protected].
