Laura Vargas Koch got the ball rolling for Germany in the women's under 70 kilogram contest, overcoming Great Britain's Sally Conway with a late o-uchi-gari for waza-ari.

The world silver medallist and Rijeka Grand Prix winner came into the final as the strong favourite after winning each of her previous fights by ippon and capitalised on the Briton's passivity to ensure the win.

Morocco's Düsseldorf 2014 Grand Prix winner Assmaa Niang secured the first of the two bronze medals after landing two waza-ari for waza-ari-awasete-ippon against Israel's Lior Wildikan.

An all-French affair in the second bronze medal contest saw Margaux Pinot beat team-mate Gevrise Emane after Pinot was penalised for more shido penalties than his compatriot.

It took until golden score for Christopher Voelk to seal Germany's second gold medal, as the men's under 73kg surprise package launched an unexpected tsuri-goshi for a superb ippon against Azerbaijan's Rustam Orujov.

The Turkish fans were given reason to cheer in the first bronze medal match as Hasan Vanlioglu edged past Ukraine's Volodymyr Soroka.

The other bronze medal was won by Miklos Ungvari of Hungary as he scored an ippon to defeat Sweden's Tommy Macias after three minutes.

Germany's third gold medal came in the final contest of the day where compatriots Alexander Wieczerzak and Sven Maresch went head-to-head in the men's under 81kg event.

In a relatively lacklustre final, the gold medal was decided by shido penalties with Maresch coming out the eventual winner.

The first bronze medal was also decided by shido penalties as Attila Ungvari added to Hungary's medal tally with victory over Russia's Murat Khabachirov.

Moldova's Valeriu Duminica took home the other bronze medal, beating Belgium's Joachim Bottieau, again on shido penalties.

Morocco's African Champion Rizlen Zouak got her hands on the only non-German gold medal of the day as she took just a minute-and-a-half to overcome Austria's 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Kathrin Unterwurzacher in the women's under 63kg contest.

Hungary's medal tally was given another boost in the first bronze medal final as Szabina Gercsak made quick work of the slightly injured American Hannah Martin.

There was more delight for German judoka in the second bronze medal final as Martyna Trajdos caught Israel's world number one and world champion Yarden Gerbi with a strong geza-gatame for ippon with just 12 seconds remaining.

The final five categories will take place tomorrow on the final day of action in Turkey, as the heavyweight judoka make their way to the Yasar Dogu Sports Arena.
