March 27 - A London 2012 sponsorship programme has been named the best of the last 20 years at the UK Sponsorship Awards.
The Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland Olympic and Paralympic campaign was part of an effort to "bring the Games closer to people across the UK".
It was named the Best Sponsorship of the Past 20 Years at an annual dinner in London..
The award was voted for by the UK public and sponsorship industry.
Lloyds Bank, the first partner to sign-up to London 2012, linked up with the ticketing programme and the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays.
Its campaign, which also included a Local Heroes programme and a school sport initiative, has been described as Lloyds Banking Group's most successful sponsorship campaign to date.
Stuart Beaver, partnership marketing and community engagement director at Lloyds Banking Group, said: "We are extremely proud to have been recognised for our London 2012 programme.
"We had a constant vision throughout our partnership: to inspire and support young people, communities and businesses all over Britain on their journey to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.
"This created a positive impact which demonstrated that a sponsorship campaign could change the way people thought about and transacted with a sponsor, which was of particular value to Lloyds during a challenging period for the banking sector."
Bank of Scotland has been a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group since 2009.
