The 39-year-old former horizontal bars world champion was unanimously elected for a second term leading the body, a role that grants him permission to sit, with a right to vote, at the FIG Council and Executive Committee.

He will continue to be the athlete representative of the men's artistic gymnastics for the duration of his term and will be joined on the Commission by Britain's Olympic uneven bars bronze medallist Beth Tweddle, who will look after women's artistic gymnastics, and London 2012 all-around bronze medallist Liubov Charkashyna of Belarus, who will represent rhythmic gymnastics.

Bruno Grandi, President of the FIG and founder of its Athletes' Commission in 1999, invited the athlete delegates to "preserve the justice in the sport and to monitor with the greatest care, the training of young gymnasts in the world".
