February 19 - 4000 extra tickets have been made available for the netball finals at Glasgow 2014 ©Glasgow 2014Glasgow 2014 organisers have announced that up to 4,000 additional tickets for the Commonwealth Games netball finals will go on sale tomorrow at 11am GMT on a first-come, first-served basis.

The announcement of additional tickets comes after organisers moved the gold and bronze medal matches, scheduled for the last day of competition at the Games on Sunday, August 3, to the newly-built SSE Hydro from the original 4,000 capacity Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC).

Concerns had been raised that many fans would miss out on attending the finals, as netball has proved to be one of the most popular sports at the Commonwealth Games since its introduction at Kuala Lumpur 1998 and represents one of the highlights of the sport's calendar as it is not on the Olympic Games programme.

The main stumbling block was the logistics of turning around the Hydro arena in time for the netball competition, which follows on from the boxing finals the night before.

However, a successful test transition involving a team of 80 working to remove the boxing ring, floor seating and signS plus laying the netball floor, installing goal posts and reconfiguring the surroundings has resulted in a decision to relocate the finals to the Hydro.

The additional tickets will be priced at £50 ($83/€60) for category one; £40 ($67/€48) for category two and category three tickets will be priced at £30 ($50/€36), while under 16s and over 60s can purchase concession tickets priced at £15 ($25/€18).

Spectators who have already been allocated tickets for the finals will now have their seats assigned in the SSE Hydro.

The top 18 teams in the world could be set to compete in Glasgow, including the powerhouses of the sport, Australia and New Zealand, who have two Commonwealth Games titles each.

England and Jamaica, who are next in the world rankings, will also be among the medal contenders in Glasgow.

Tickets can be purchased online via the Glasgow 2014 Ticketing website or by contacting the ticket hotline on 0844 826 2014.

There are a limited number of tickets still available for badminton, boxing, lawn bowls, rugby sevens, squash, weightlifting and Para-sport powerlifting, while there is also limited availability for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
