Clare Briegal has been appointed as the new permanent chief executive of the International Netball Federation ©LinkedinFebruary 17 - Britain's Clare Briegal has been officially appointed as the permanent chief executive of the International Netball Federation (INF).
 

She had had been serving in an interim role since the departure after five years of Urvasi Naidoo last September.

Briegal had also previously covered for Naidoo when she was on maternity leave. 

"We are delighted that Clare has accepted this role," said Molly Rhone, President of the INF.

"She has proved herself a strong leader and the right person to take international netball to the next level. 

"These are exciting times for netball and we have every confidence that Clare will build on our success and create new and innovative opportunities to grow and showcase netball on the world stage."

Briegal has a commercial background, working for international companies such as ICI Acrylics and Twyford Bathrooms in senior sales and marketing roles, and holds an MBA from Manchester Business School, an MA in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MA in biochemistry from Bryn Mawr College in the United States. 

Briegal is also currently deputy chair of Warrington and Halton Hospitals National Health Service Foundation Trust.

"I am looking forward to the challenge of driving netball forward, building its profile and welcoming new partners and sponsors to further strengthen our sport," said Briegal, a former rower who represented Cambridge University. 

"With our innovative grassroots development programme and our finest teams and players competing atthe Commonwealth Games this year in Glasgow, and the Netball World Cup in Sydney in 2015, there has never been a better time to be involved with the world's number one women's team sport."
