The O2 replaces Wembley Arena due to popular demand and British Basketball League chief operating officer, Andy Webb, expressed his delight at the change of venue.

"It's a real coup and exciting step for us to be making the move to The O2 for what is always a fitting finale to any BBL season and it's difficult to imagine a more appropriate backdrop to what is always a truly memorable occasion," he said.

Webb hopes British Basketball can continue its progress as it tries to attract bigger audiences.

"To be having to make this move due to the demand from fans is a satisfying measurement of progress and makes the footprint we are putting down for British Basketball even more prominent," he said.

In a joint announcement with the BBL, Rebecca Kane, general manager at The O2, claimed the atmosphere will be exhilarating when the event is brought to the iconic venue.

"Sporting events always have such an electric atmosphere here so it's fantastic to have this look forward to next year," she said.

"I am very excited demand has been so high for the event that it is being moved to our iconic venue for the first time."

Last year's Playoff Final at Wembley Arena saw Leicester Riders overcome the Newcastle Eagles by 68-57 to lift the trophy.

A pre-sale of tickets takes place on February 13 at 9am, with tickets going on general sale at 9am on February 17.
