January 6 - The Canadian Paralympic Committee is seeking applications for the role of Chef de Mission at Toronto 2015 ©CPCThe Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is seeking a Chef de Mission to lead its team to the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games.

The Chef de Mission will be the main representative of Canadian athletes in Toronto and a member of the core leadership team, as well as being a member of the CPC Issues Management Team, at the Games, due to take place from August 7 to 14, 2015.

The role involves a significant level of responsibility and requires a considerable commitment of time, energy and effort according to the CPC, which says it is looking for someone with the ability to lead, motivate and foster team building.

The successful candidate is expected to provide overall leadership to the Canadian Paralympic team, with key responsibilities including participation in site visits, regular conference calls and staff meetings, national events, selection trials, training events, the Chef de Mission Seminar, Mission Orientation Seminar and the Games themselves.

A candidate can be nominated for the role by a CPC Paralympic sport member in good standing as of the date of the call for applications or by two CPC Board members.

Former executive director of sport for the CPC, Rob Needham, was Chef de Mission for Team Canada at the 2007 Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and at Guadalajara 2011.

The Chef de Mission for the upcoming Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympic Games is veteran Alpine skiing coach Ozzie Sawicki.
