Scott Brash has topped the jumping world rankings ©AFP/Getty ImagesDecember 2 - Scott Brash, the British rider who won team gold at the London 2012 Olympics, has pushed his way to the number one spot in the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Longines jumping world rankings.

The 28-year-old, who is also European champion in team jumping and currently second in the 2013-2014 FEI World Cup Jumping Western Europe League standings, moved up from sixth place with 2,590 points to overtake former world number one and compatriot Ben Maher by 37 points to lead the table on a score of 2,627.

German Ludger Beerbaum has also climbed the rankings to sit in third place with 2,495 points, however, the United States' Elizabeth Madden - the top ranked female in the discipline - has dropped two places to fourth with 2,451, just a point ahead of Beerbaum's compatriot Marcus Ehning in fifth.

Switzerland's London 2012 individual jumping champion Steve Guerdat, Germany's Christian Ahlmann, Patrice Delaveau of France, Portugal's Luciana Diniz and Gerco Schröder of the Netherlands complete the jumping world top ten line up respectively.
