The Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games emblem has been revealed ©Lillehammer 2016November 15 - The emblem to be used at the Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games, designed by four young university students, has been unveiled.

The students, currently studying a Media Design programme at Gjøvik University College in Norway, designed a clear, neat and subtle emblem said to embody the Norwegian ideals.

Marianne Ågotnes, Anja Rullestad, Marte Stensrud and Live Andrea Sulheim were the four chosen to complete the task, and one of the young designers explained how it was a unique opportunity to begin their media design careers.

"I don't think many students have started their working careers with Olympic deliveries," they said.

The launch of this emblem is the first step taken by Lillehammer 2016 towards revealing the visual identity of the next Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Chief executive of Lillehammer 2016, Tomas Holmestad, said that more of this identity will be released next winter with the same students playing a big part in the next phase.

"There is also great interest in how the total visual profile for the Games will be," he said.

"This will be launched during the coming winter, and is also based on a suggestion from the same talented students."

The Lillehammer Youth Games will get underway on February 12, 2016, coinciding with the 22-year anniversary of the 1994 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, which also took place in the Norwegian city.
