November 15 - More tickets for the 2013 Duel in the Pool, set to take place at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow next month, went on sale today for those who have yet to snap up their seats for the biennial event.
With tickets selling out for the second day of competition within the first 24 hours, this sale is another opportunity to witness the world's top swimmers, including the likes of American Olympic champion Ryan Lochte and British Commonwealth Games champion Fran Halsall, compete at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games venue on December 20 and 21.
"The high demand for tickets for Duel in the Pool has been fantastic and really shows how much the people of Glasgow get behind our city's world-class sporting events," Councillor Archie Graham, executive member for Commonwealth Games 2014 and chair of Glasgow Life, said
"Now with more tickets on sale there is another chance for the people of Glasgow and Scotland to come along and get taste of what to expect next year at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games."
The Duel in the Pool has become known as the "Ryder Cup" of the pool and sees athletes from the United States taking on their European counterparts to win points for their team and ultimately take the title.
"I am really excited about the meet," home swimmer Craig McNally said.
"I got to watch the competition in 2009 and it looked exciting and fun and I can't wait to be part of it now.
"It's a really different format and totally head-to-head. It will be quick and I will be looking to up my game for the competition.
"The home support really means a lot for all of us.
"The crowds are what creates the buzz for the swimmers and gets you excited to race.
"At the Duel in the Pool the crowd will be really important to all of the swimmers.
"With these extra tickets on sale it gives more people the chance to experience the excitement of the meet and help to cheer us all on ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games."
Adult tickets start from £40 ($64/€48) and can be bought here.
