Loblaw Companies Limited has been named as the official grocery retailer and premier partner of Toronto 2015November 8 - Toronto 2015 has named Loblaw Companies Limited as the official grocery retailer of the Pan and Parapan American Games.

The deal, launched by double Paralympic champion David Eng, world champion hurdler Perdita Felicien, Olympic bronze medallist Mark Oldershaw and national marathon record holder Lanni Marchant, will see the food retailer provide food for the more than 7,000 athletes and 20,000 volunteers at the Games.

"As Canada's largest grocery retailer, Loblaw is a perfect fit for the Toronto 2015 Games," Organising Committee chief executive Ian Troop said.

"Along with its national reputation for providing consumers with high-quality, affordably priced nutritious food choices, the company also has deep roots in our communities and is committed to making them better places to live.

"Our vision for the 'People's Games' is similar: we want to bring people together, make our communities stronger and encourage Ontarians of all ages, especially our youth, to lead healthy, active lives."

Loblaw now joins the likes of CIBC, Chevrolet Canada, CISCO and Cirque du Soleil as part of the Toronto 2015 sponsor family.

"Supporting the nutritional health and performance of the almost 7,500 athletes attending the Games as well as the 20,000 volunteers is an extension of our consumer purpose to help Canadians live life well," Uwe Stueckmann, Loblaw's senior vice-president of marketing, said.
