Nathan Baggaley is to face more drugs charges after arrestNovember 3 - Australian double Olympic silver medal winning kayaker Nathan Baggaley has been arrested again in a drugs bust just two years after being released from a four-year custodial term for similar offences.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) and New South Wales police arrested the 37-year-old Athens 2004 medallist and three-time world champion as part of a large-scale "ongoing investigation" into drug laboratories at Tweed Heads this weekend.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to face a court in Lismore tomorrow over seven charges, including conspiracy to import chemical precursors, conspiracy to manufacture and produce a prohibited drug and supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

A 52-year-old man was also charged with drug manufacture.

"As this matter is currently still the subject of an AFP investigation, it is not appropriate to comment further," said a spokesperson.

Baggaley was released from jail in 2011 after serving time in prison for manufacturing and dealing ecstasy.

In an interview in August to mark International Overdose Awareness Day, Baggaley spoke out about his drug addiction but claimed he was now "clean".

"I've made some poor choices and paid the price," he said.

"I'm just happy to come home and try to get on with my life."

He also spoke about the issue in November last year when he told Australia's Daily Telegraph: "I need to get back on track, get my life in order and try and make it up to people, particularly my family."
