The Australian BC3 pairing of Daniel Michel and Angela McReynolds almost gave the home fans something to cheer about as they came nail-biting close to progressing through to the next stage of the competition at Sydney's Olympic Park.

The duo managed to come back from a 4-2 deficit to beat the Chinese pairing of Lieugo Dong and Ming Lei in their final match of the group stages.

With a win over Thailand already tucked under their belt, Australia just needed Singapore to repeat the feat on the adjacent court to secure their place in semi-finals.

Ecstasy quickly turned to agony as the pair watched Thailand edge past Singapore's Nurulasyiqah Binte Mohammad Taha and Sze Ning Toh to book their place in the semi-finals ahead of the Australians.

"We had two wins from three games in the pool rounds which would normally see you progress to the finals, but the teams were so well matched, it just hasn't gone our way," said Australian Boccia head coach Peter King.

"We set our goal to win two games, but we haven't quite got the rewards we deserve."

Singapore went on to reach the final of the tournament, where they lost to the totally dominate Korea.

The Korean pair of Han Soo Kim and Ho Won Jeong conceded just one point in pool A, scoring an incredible 31.

Their form continued in to the finals where they beat Thailand 7-1 in the semis and took gold with a 7-2 win over Singapore in the final.

Australia's BC1/BC2 team and BC4 Pairs also dropped out of semi final contention with heavy losses in the pool rounds today.

The BC1/BC2 Team were defeated 6-3 and 8-6 by South Korea and China respectively, while the BC4 Pairs were thumped 7-2 by Thailand and 13-0 by China.

Both teams will complete their pool rounds tomorrow morning, before the semi-finalists take to the court in the afternoon.

South Korea continued to dominate in the individual events, winning two of the four classifications.

World number one Ho Won Jeong added a second gold to his tally as he cruised to victory in the BC3 individual competition, beating his team mate Han Soo Kim in the final.

2012 London bronze medallist So Yeong Jeong kept up Korea's brilliant display by winning gold in the BC2 classification.

Thailand's Reigning Paralympic gold medallist and world number one Pattaya Tadtong cruised to the final of the BC1 class, but was beaten back at the final hurdle by team mate Witsanu Huadpradit.

China's Yuansen Zheng dominated the BC4 class, scoring double figures in three of his four group stage matches.

The 2012 London silver medallist beat Hong Kong's Vivian Wai Yan Lau 5-0 to secure the gold medal.
