The International Boxing Association has unveiled a new World Boxing Acadamey in Talgar KazakhstanOctober 26 - A new World Boxing Academy has been opened in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, in the wake of the 2013 World Boxing Championships, which finished today.


Led by International Boxing Association (AIBA) President Dr C K Wu, AIBA Executive Committee members, directors of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation (KBF) and representatives of national member federations made the trip to Talgar to visit the new facility first hand.

During the visit Wu commended the work of the KBF and national government on building the Academy.

"Having accepting AIBA's request, the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation and the Kazakh Government have given their utmost efforts to build this Academy in the shortest time possible for the global boxing family," he said.

The Academy, which can accommodate up to 170 people, spans over 2,000 square metres and includes five boxing rings, a swimming pool and running track, a strength and conditioning centre, and sufficient space to hold a small competition.

As well as these state of the art facilities, the Academy will also provide guidance from some of the top coaches in the world, including those who led Kazakhstan to success in the recent World Championships.

The Academy also has the capacity to host conferences and educational activities and is expected to be fully operational by the beginning of next year.
