Japan move to the top of the medal table at Judo World Junior ChampionshipsOctober 26 - Japan moved to the top of the medal table today as they took gold in both of the women's weight divisions on the final day of the individual competitions at the Judo Junior World Championships in Ljubljana.


Former Junior Belgian Open winner Shiori Yoshimura won the first of these gold medals as she bested Brazil's Samanta Soares in the under 78 kilogram category.

Yoshimura was in a class of her own in the division as she started the day with a win in just 38 seconds against France's Samah Camara and ended it with an 84 second win over Soares in the final.

The first bronze of the under 78kg weight division was contested between Camara and Croatia's Cadet World Championship bronze medallist Brigita Matic.

It was Matic who came out on top of this encounter as Camara suffered her second successive defeat by ippon, losing after 72 seconds.

France's 2013 European champion Madeleine Malonga rounded up the division, beating Canada's Anna-Laura Portuondo Isasi to claim the second bronze medal.

Nami Inamori took Japan's other gold medal of the day, beating Germany's Carolin Weiss in the final.

Inamori blew her opposition away during this competition winning all her contests by ippon, including the final against the World Military Championships bronze medallist with just two seconds remaining.

The first bronze medal was captured by Brazil's Sibilla Faccholli, who beat 18-year-old Croatian Under-23 Championship winner Ivana Šutalo on shido penalties.

The second bronze medal was won by Germany's Junior European Championships bronze medallist Clarissa Taube, who needed just 62 seconds to trap Cuba's Gusmary Garcia Savigne with a kami-sankaku-gatame for ippon.

Canadian Championships winner Kyle Reyes won the first of the men's finals as he beat former Prague Junior European Cup bronze medallist Lee-Hyun Kim of Korea in the under 100kg category.

Reyes came from relatively under the radar to emerge victorious in this competition and did so in style, winning four of his five contests by ippon.

He did so again in the finals he struck his opponent with an emphatic tai-otoshi for ippon with just a minute remaining of the match.

The first bronze medal was won by Japan#s former Junior Asian Championships bronze medallist Ryuko Ogawa as his opponent, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Slobodan Dorda lost focus and received four shido penalties and therefore hansoku-make.

The second bronze medal was clinched by Belgium's Toma Nikiforov who launched Kazakhstan's Liberec Junior European Cup bronze medallist Aibek Serikbayev into the air with a hulking ura-nage for ippon after just 33 seconds.

Russia's Junior European champion Anton Krivobokov earned third gold medal of the tournament and the final gold of the day as he beat Mongolian Duurenbayar Ulziibayar in the over 100kg final.

The Russian won the title with a wazi-ari as Ulziibayar ran out of steam at the final hurdle.

The first bronze medal of this division was won by Georgia's Levani Matiashvili as he defeated Japan's Kurahashi Isao by a wazi-ari.

The final bronze of the individual competition was taken by Brazil's Ruan Silva who stopped Georgia's hopes of a second medal in the category by beating Giorgi Zakariadze by ippon with just two seconds remaining.
