USOC chief of sports performance and Chef de Mission for Team USA at Sochi 2014 Alan Ashley says he is pleased with preparations ahead of the GamesSeptember 20 - A delegation that included leaders of all the American National Sports Federations has completed its final visit to Sochi ahead of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games next year and has said it is pleased with how preparations are going.

The delegation was led by Alan Ashley, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) chief of sport performance and Chef de Mission for Team USA at Sochi 2014, and visited a number of competition venues and accommodation venues where the American athletes will be staying during the Games which get are due to open on February 7.

Ashley and his colleagues visited the Coastal Olympic Village, the Mountain Olympic Village and the Endurance Olympic Village, as well as inspecting hotels in the Russian coastal city where National Olympic Committee (NOC) delegates, coaches, and friends and family of the 250 American athletes that are expected to compete at Sochi 2014, will be staying during the event.

Transport arrangements between the Mountain and Coastal Clusters were also inspected and the delegation was able to meet with the competition managers for each sport.

"It was important for us to see the progress that has taken place in Sochi," said Ashley.


"The Villages will be great for our athletes and ensure easy access to training and competition sites.

"Sochi 2014 met all of our expectations and we look forward to the upcoming Games."
