Edwards Wildman will supply legal services to the London Lions Basketball Club and Sports FoundationSeptember 25 - Law firm Edwards Wildman have agreed a partnership with the London Lions Basketball Club and their sports foundation as the British Basketball League (BBL) side prepare for their competitive debut at their new home in the Copper Box Arena on Friday (September 27).

As part of the partnership, the Lions will receive legal support in relation to the full range of activities offered by the club, and the London Lions Sports Foundation will receive legal advice on a pro-bono basis.

"We are delighted and excited to be appointed to act as the London Lions Basketball Club's legal advisors," said Edwards Wildman's London office managing partner Nick Bolter.

"In partnership with the London Lions we hope that we can help build and support a club that not only contributes to the Olympic Legacy, but also becomes a hugely important part of the local community of which we are part.

"Of course, part of our support will be cheering on the London Lions at their new home at the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and we wish them huge success in the season ahead."

The Lions franchise, formerly based in Milton Keynes, will begin their new life on the Olympic Park this Friday at "the box that rocks" as they take on the Manchester Giants in the BBL season curtain-raiser.

London Lions general manager Christian Kumar spoke of his delight at securing the partnership and looked forward to ushering in a new era for the franchise later this week.

"The London Lions are extremely pleased to have appointed Edwards Wildman as the Club's solicitors," he said.

"This demonstrates the London Lions' continuing strategy and commitment to establishing the Club as tangible part of the Olympic Legacy and its local community, as well as developing basketball as a major spectator sport in the UK.

"I encourage everyone, especially the local community, to watch the London Lions' first home game of the new season at the Copper Box on Friday, 27 September, which will be a fantastic occasion."
