September 12 - The 2014 Men's European Handball Championship in Denmark will be sponsored by door and window firm Outrup, the European Handball Federation (EHF) announced today.
The Danish company, which is making its first venture into the sponsorship of top-level international handball with Euro 2014, will receive prime television advertising slots at courtside and on the playing surface at the continent's flagship handball competition.
Outrup will also see its company logo integrated into official print and online publications, and has rights to use the official sponsor title and EHF Euro logo in its communication activities.
"Handball is hugely popular in Denmark and therefore holds a tremendous opportunity for us to connect with new and existing customers on our home soil," Outrup managing director Mogens Ringgaard said.
"As a family owned Danish business, this marketing commitment is fully aligned with our strategy to continue producing our doors and windows here in Denmark.
"The Men's EHF Euro offers us a unique opportunity to promote ourselves through this first class international sports event."
Handball has seen its television reach consistently rise throughout the continent in recent years, and the last European Championship held in Serbia last year gauged a total cumulative audience of 1.47 billion, transmitted by 75 licensed broadcasters in Europe and beyond.
"Handball is hugely popular in Denmark and with the home side looking to defend the title we are expecting tremendous interest in the event in January," EHF President Jean Brihault said.
"As a domestic sponsor, I am certain that the event's new official sponsor, Outrup, will benefit considerably not only from this level of interest in Denmark but also the strong worldwide TV coverage."
The EHF Men's Euro 2014 will take place on January 12-26.
