Olympic champion Malcolm Page of Australia will serve a second term on the ISAF Athletes CommissionAugust 21 - The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has announced the eight sailors that will serve on its Athletes' Commission until 2016, inlcuding five new members elected to the Commission alongside three others who will be completing a second four-year term.

The three sailors, first elected in 2009, who will be completing their second terms on the Commission include double Olympic champion Malcolm Page of Australia, the Netherlands' Beijing 2008 silver medallist Marcelien de Koning and American windsurfer Ben Barger, who competed at Beijing 2008.

They will be joined by double Olympic and world champion in the Yngling class, Sarah Gosling from Britain, along with another Olympic and world champion Xu Lijia of China, who won gold at London 2012 in the laser radial class and was world champion in 2006.

Brazilian Fernanda Oliveira, a bronze medallist in the 470 class at Beijing 2008,makes up the female contingent on the Commission, whose role is to act as the link between active Olympic sailors and the ISAF.

The world governing body organises one meeting each year with the Athletes' Commission, which is held at the ISAF Secretariat, while other meetings are coordinated by the Athletes' Commission at ISAF Graded events.

Former European 49er champion Yann Rocherieux of France and Dutchman Pieter-Jan Postma make up the eight-person Commission, which also has the remit to elect members to sit on Events, Equipment and Race Officials Committees as well as receiving invites to Working Parties considering Olympic sailing matters, and selection of ISAF World Championships venues.

The Athletes' Commission is expected to hold its first meeting at the end of next month or early October at which a new chairman will be elected.
