Britain survived a scare to reach the semi-finals of the European Wheelchair Rugby Championships in AntwerpAugust 15 - A shock setback against Finland left Britain teetering on the brink of elimination from the European Wheelchair Rugby Championships in Antwerp, but a win over the host nation Belgium eventually secured their place in the final four, alongside Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

The 56-50 defeat to the Finnish earlier in the day had Britain on the ropes as it meant that they would have to defeat the hosts in order to progress to the semi-finals, but there was no mistake for the British this time as they came through 47-38 to book a match-up with Sweden for a place in the final- a repeat of the London 2012 fifth-placed play-off, in which Britain prevailed.

"Despite our young team, we played very well," said Britain's Sehmi Mandip.

"Everyone stuck to his position and did a 100% job.

"We knew that it was our only chance to prevent the Belgians from controlling the game.

"Now, we are aiming for the gold medal."

"The atmosphere was just perfect, the Belgians really surpassed themselves in the organisation.

"We have been warmly received, there is nothing negative to say about the event."
