August 10 - JUDO CADET DAY 3Japan's gold medal streak finally halted on day three of the judo World Cadet Championships in Miami as Germany, Hungary and Russia claimed top honours, while Canada secured its second gold of the tournament at the Doral Legends Ballroom.

Four more categories were decided on the third day of tatami action as medals were handed out in the girl's -57 kilogrammes and -63kg events as well as in the boy's -73kg and -81kg classes.

The final of the boy's -81kg saw Canadian Louis Krieber Gagnon not only win his country's second gold of the event but also become Canada's first male Cadet World Championship winner by defeating Cadet European Championship and European Youth Olympic Festival bronze medallist Frank De Wit of the Netherlands.

Bronze medals went to 2011 Cadet World Championships winner Mikhail Igolnikov, of Russia, who defeated teammate and Bielsko Cadet European Cup winner Turpal Tepkaev, while Austria's Berlin Cadet European Cup bronze medallist Marko Bubanja trapped his Israeli opponent Idan Vardi with a mune-gatame to secure victory in the other match.

Russia's five-time Cadet European Cup medallist Zaur Ramazanov ruled the roost in the boy's -73kg category but not after a titanic battle in the final against Georgia's European Youth Olympic Festival bronze medallist Tamazi Kirakozashvili, which saw the contest go into golden score.

Ramazanov prevailed following a textbook uchi-mata for ippon.

Montenegro's Arso Milic overcame Dutch National Cadet Champion Kevin Bakker to win bronze and he was joined by Ruslan Godizov, of Russia, who defeated Croatia's Pitesti Cadet European Cup bronze medallist Lovro Kovac.

In the girl's -63kg final, Hungary's European champion and European Youth Olympic Festival silver medallist Szabina Gercsak provided more evidence of her considerable talent as a tani-otoshi after 73 seconds for ippon saw her emerge victorious over France's Bielsko Cadet European Cup bronze medallist Ines Prevot.

A hari-goshi was enough to see the Netherland's European Youth Olympic Festival winner and European Championship silver medallist Lisa Mullenberg over the line in the bronze medal match against Serbian Tea Tintor, while Lubjana Piovesana secured Britain's second bronze of the Championships with victory over Liudmyla Drozdova of the Ukraine.

Germany's first medal in Miami turned out to be gold courtesy of Teplice Cadet European Cup winner Jennifer Schwille, as she denied Japan what would have been a fifth gold medal of the Championships with a win against Kanna Murakami in the final of the girl's -57kg category.

The Japanese judoka searched for an opening but Schille was quick to react and countered with an osoto-gari for a second waza-ari which sealed wazari-awasette-ippon.

Rina Tatsukawa ensured Japan came away with two medals on the day as she defeated the Netherland's Gaby De By while France's Sarah Harachi registered her country' first medal of the Championships against Gabriela Bitencourt of Brazil in the bronze medal contests.
