A koshi-jime from Japan's Honoka Yamuchi was enough to force a submission from Azerbaijan's European champion Leyla Aliyeva and claim the first gold medal of the day in the gilr's -40kg event.

Tsvetelina Tsvetanova of Bulgaria took just 50 seconds to win bronze by securing an ippon on Adiya Saiyn of Kazakhstan while Pidesti Cadets European Cup bronze medallist Juliana Rodrigues of Brazil edged out the Netherlnd's Aniek Norder by a yuko in the other bronze match.

It was two-in-a-row for the Japanese contingent in Miami following the second girl's final of the day.

Berlin Cadets European Cup winner Mari Suzuki Mari defeated Kincso Mihalovits of Hungary in the -44kg final.

The Japanese demonstrated her talent by adjusting from a yoko-shiho-gatame to a mune-gatame to hold the Hungarian, who finished fifth at June's European Championships, for ippon.

South Korean Kim Jaeryeong was forced into submission by Russian Anastasya Turcheva while Slovenia's Marusa Stangar overcame Estefania Soriano of the Dominican Republic in the bronze medal matches.

The first boy's final of the day saw 16-year-old Natig Gurbanli create history by becoming the first Azerbaijan judoka to win World Championship gold at any age group.

In a tight final, Gurbanli's opponent Robinzon Beglarashvili of Georgia lost out after being penalised with the maximum penalty of hansoku-make with just 30 seconds left.

There was another first in the bronze medal matches as Mongolia's Amartuvshin Bayaraa won his country's first Cadet World Championships medal with victory over Tornike Nagliashvili of Georgia.

The other bronze went to Jorre Verstraeten of Belgium, who overcame Japan's Wataru Umekita.

In the -55kg, Fuengirola Junior International winner Bauyrzhan Zhauyntayev of Kazakhstan created somewhat of a surprise by defeating Cadet European champion and 2011 Cadet World Championships runner-up Elios Manzi of Italy.

The Italian was leading the contest with nine seconds remaining but a lack of activity saw him receive a penalty to send the contest into golden score and Manzi's fate was sealed when he incurred a second shido for passivity.

Tornike Tsjkadoea of the Netherlands claimed bronze due to an injury to Cadet European champion and European Youth Olympic Festival winner Erekle Arkhozashvili which meant he could not take to the mat.

Meanwhile, in the other bronze medal match, Britain's Peter Miles caused a home upset by defeating American Adonis Diaz, who had won silver at the Cadet Pan American Championships.
