August 3 - QATAR 2015 HANDBALLThere are 22 qualification spots up for grabs for the men's 2015 International Handball Federation (IHF) World Championships in Qatar, which sees an spot awarded to the African Handball Federation (CAHB) following its improved results at this year's Championships in Spain, it has been announced.

The CAHB will be represented by four teams at Qatar 2015 following the performances of Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria at this year's tournament in January.

The Tunisians lost out to eventual finalists Denmark at the quarter-final stage, while Egypt and Algeria finished 16th and 17th respectively, out of a field of 24 nations.

The top four teams at next year's handball African Nations Cup in Algiers, where Tunisia will be looking to win its third successive continental title, will qualify for the World Championships. .

Hosts Qatar and reigning world champions Spain, who claimed their second world crown on home soil at this year's Championships, have already qualified automatically for the 2015 event which is due to take place from January 11 to 25 in the Gulf state.

Three teams from Asia and three from the Americas will have the opportunity to secure their spots in Qatar at the Asian Men's Championship in January/February 2014 and the Pan-American Championships in June 2014.

Teams from the Oceania Handball Federation (OCHF) will battle it out for one World Championship spot at their play-off series expected to take place in April or May next year.

As well as Spain, the European Handball Federation (EHF) will have 11 other representatives in Qatar, and the first three spots will be taken by the top three teams at the 2014 European Championships being held in Denmark in January.

The countries taking part will include London 2012 Olympic champions France and hosts Denmark, currently third in the IHF world rankings.

The remaining 13 teams from the European Championships will join teams that failed to qualify for the tournament and take part in a series of qualification play-off matches later in the year, to determine the eight other nations that will fly the European flag at Qatar 2015.
