Two-time British Open champion Wagner overcame Hunter 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the final in Nottingham.

"Sarah's a good player, so I always have to be ready for her and be ready to play my best," Wagner said following the win.

"Today I played well enough to get through and I look forward to being in the final this weekend.

"I'm going to give it everything I have, because I really want this title to take home with me."

Wagner will now face his South African Open conqueror Sithole in the final, after the second seed defeated home favourite Burdekin 6-4, 6-4 in a closely-fought semi-final contest.

"Jamie was playing well in those first three games and after that I told myself just to concentrate on each point, so it feels good to be in the final," Sithole said.

In the men's singles event, British number one Gordon Reid booked his semi-final berth with a straight-sets win over French eighth seed Frédéric Cattaneo, but he faces the daunting prospect of having to get past the on form top seed Stéphane Houdet in the semi-final after he comfortably defeated sixth seed Ronald Vink of the Netherlands.

"The whole match was difficult," Reid admitted.

"Fred played very well, but I served well and played the big points well.

"There were some long rallies and it was hard, so I'm glad to get that one out the way to move on to the semi-finals.

"I've beaten Stéphane twice this year, so I'm looking forward to our semi-final."

Belgian fifth seed Joachim Gérard pulled off a minor upset against fourth seed Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina to ensure his place in the final four, where he will play Frenchman Michael Jeremiasz who came through a topsy-turvy 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 match-up against former world number one Maikel Scheffers.

British women's number one Lucy Shuker ran German world number one Sabine Ellerbrock close but lost 6-1, 7-5, meaning the top seed will take on Dutch world number four Marjolein Buis in the semi-finals after she defeated Francisca Mardones of Chile 6-4, 6-0.

Dutch world number two Aniek van Koot ended British hopes of a women's singles title when she defeated Jordanne Whiley 6-2, 6-2, setting up a semi-final match-up with teammate Jiske Griffioen, who saw off the challenge from fifth seed Kgothatso Montjane of South Africa, also 6-2, 6-2.
