Randers will host the Championships, which is due to last until July 14, along with the women's 19 European Championship in August and the 2014 men's European Championship in January, where their national team will look to hang onto their European crown in front of their home crowd.

Denmark will then also play host to the women's World Championship in December 2015, and the Danish Handball Federation (DHF) are also planning to bid to host the 2019 men's World Championship this Autumn.

Men's and women's junior and senior competitions will take place in Randers this month as the DHF play host to an international beach handball event for the first time.

"Beach handball is rapidly developing, both nationally and internationally," Said DHF secretary general Morten Stig Chritensen.

"The special atmosphere and entertaining game set-up is appealing in its own way both for spectators and players,"

"We are pleased to provide the Danish audience with the opportunity to experience beach handball at the highest level and hope for many visitors in Randers in the next ten days."

Denmark will attempt to retain their European men's title on home soil next year

The DHF have organised the event in collaboration with Sport Event Denmark and the City of Randers, who Stig Christensen reserved high praise for.

"Sport Event Denmark once again has been hands-on and is very skilled when it comes to hosting international sports events, both financially and from a sport event management point of view," he said.

"This basically makes it possible for us to bid for and host championships in Denmark.

"At the same time the City of Randers put in a lot of dedication and really contributed to the organisation of this specific event."
