The 30-year-old Beijing 2008 silver medallist trains at the Pentathlon GB high performance centre at the University of Bath and says she is honoured to being playing a part in Special Olympics GB's flagship event, which is expect to draw more than 1,700 athletes to compete in 12 sport.

"It is great news that Special Olympics GB is heading to the South West for their National Games for the first time," said Fell, who is also a World Championship, World Cup and European Championship gold medallist.

"Being a full time athlete in Bath I know how much sport means to this city and the world-class facilities at the university will ensure a world class event with a wonderful experience for the athletes, friends and family and all spectators.

"I am honoured to be involved in the National Summer Games and look forward to following the athletes on their road to Bath."

Fell joins Athens 2004 Olympic champion Jason Gardener and four-time Olympic athlete Jo Pavey as an ambassador for the event, which will take place from August 28 to September 1.
