Great Big Events logoMay 31 - Glasgow 2014 have appointed production company Great Big Events (GBE) to help deliver the Commonwealth Games, it was announced today.


The Australian company will provide several services, ranging from in-stadia entertainment at all 17 sports and information to the stage managing of medal ceremonies.

It will be the fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games that GBE have worked on, having previously been involved at Kuala Lumpur 1998, Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010.

GBE have also been involved in the last four Olympics, including London 2012 where they were involved in the development of sport presentation for 13 out of 26 sports. 

To get those attending involved and immersed in the action this will include sport announcements, commentary, video board content, in-venue music, agreed lighting and fun entertainment packages featuring Clyde, the Glasgow 2014 mascot, GBE promised.

"GBE have unparalleled experience in delivering sport presentation within a Commonwealth Games environment, which is matched with their reputation amongst International Sport Federations for the successful delivery of services at both single-sport events and multi-sport Games," said Greg Warnecke, the Glasgow 2014 head of sport.

"Importantly, GBE have been able to demonstrate a great understanding of all 17 Glasgow 2014 sports which will ensure that Glasgow 2014 will be able to deliver an outstanding sport presentation experience for everyone within each competition venue."

GBE have also previously worked on the 2006 Asian Games in Doha and the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. 

They have also worked with Manchester City, including in 2011-2012 when they won the Premier League title.
