Harriet Lee London 2012May 21 - British swimmer Harriet Lee, winner of a bronze medal in the SB9 100 metres breaststroke, has secured a new sponsorship deal with Vision Express.

The partnership will see the High Street optician fund Lee's training, while in turn sees her act as an ambassador for the company and support its charity initiatives.

Lee was recently selected for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships in Montreal.

The 22-year-old from Huntingdon recently had her National Lottery funding from UK Sport cut.

"I have been swimming since I was two and I was devastated to find out that despite my bronze medal, my funding had been scaled back which has significantly affected my training," said Lee, who has the growth condition Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.

"This sponsorship from Vision Express means I can concentrate 100 per cent on preparation for competitions and for achieving my ultimate goal of representing GB in 2016."

"I was particularly drawn to Vision Express as a company due to its relationship with Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

"The importance of maintaining children's eye health cannot be underestimated and I am thrilled to help in any way I can."

Leewill also be working alongside television presenter Emma Forbes and celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard at Vision Express.

"Harriet is a true inspiration to us all," said Jonathan Lawson, the chief executive of Vision Express.

"She has overcome significant obstacles to achieve the impossible through sheer determination and commitment.

"We were particularly struck to hear that her bronze medal was not enough to secure adequate funding and are therefore delighted to be able to step in and provide her with financial backing."
