Floorball is a type of floor hockey, an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s in Sweden, and is popular in Scandinavia.

"The positive decision of the IWGA Annual Meeting is a great step forward for floorball," said IFF President Tomas Eriksson.

"The floorball family will now do everything in its power to convey the added value that we can give the World Games, in order to be accepted on the programme of the Games."

Muaythai is a combat sport from the muay martial arts of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques and is known as "the art of eight weapons" because it is characterised by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet.

"I think we can contribute to increasing the significance of The World Games," said Dr Skachye Tapswuan, President of the (IFMA.

"We applied for membership in the IWGA to continue making our sport known worldwide."

The three sports are now eligible for inclusion on the programme at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw.

The sports programme is due to be reviewed after this year's event in Cali.

Appearing in the World Games is seen as the first step on the road to inclusion in the Olympics.

"We can start moving forward now and bring new members in," said IWGA President Ron Froehlich after the meeting, held on the eve of the SportAccord International Convention.
