Yang Ho ChoMay 19 - Yang Ho Cho, the chairman of Korean Air who led Pyeongchang's successful bid to host the 2018 Olympics and Paralympics, has been appointed special advisor of finance and marketing by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The role will include helping them secure sponsors and identify other revenue streams and advising them on their marketing programme.

As well as being head of Korean Air, Cho is chairman of the Hanjin Group, one of the world's largest transportation conglomerates.

Cho is President of the Korean Table Tennis Association and vice-president of the Asia Table Tennis Union.

As an ambassador of Peace and Sport, Cho played a major role in November 2011 in establishing the historic Peace and Sport Table Tennis Cup, a tournament to encourage dialogue and reconciliation between nations.

Ten countries took part in the tournament, including North and South Korea, who participated alongside each other at the event in Doha.

Last December, Korean Air and the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) partnered to conduct the UNOSDP's Youth Leadership Camps.

The 12-day camps, hosted up to four times per year around the world, teach young participants from disadvantaged and under-privileged communities both theoretical and practical methods of how sport can be used to promote change in communities.
