Dave-Malone medalathens-300x199April 15 - Swim Ireland's head of Paralympic swimming Dave Malone has become the third person to be inducted to the organisation's Hall of Fame.

The 35-year-old from Dublin, a bi-lateral amputee, competed at four Games for Ireland and is one of the country's most decorated Paralympians, winning three medals in total, including a gold from Sydney 2000, and two silver.

The Irishman also had success on the world and European stage, winning gold and two bronze medals at World Championship level and two gold, two silver and one bronze medal at European level.

Malone also held the S8 world record in the 50 metres, 100m and 200m backstroke for a decade in a distinguished career.

After competing at Beijing 2008, Malone linked up with Swim Ireland and led the Irish team to two gold medals in the pool at London 2012, won by Bethany Firth and Darragh McDonald.

"It is only fitting that after the success of the swimmers at the Games in 2012 and given his contribution to the sport over the years that Dave was inducted into the Swim Ireland Hall of Fame in 2013." said Swim Ireland.
