Nicol DavidApril 16 - Malaysia's seven-time world squash champion and world number one Nicol David will lead this year's World Squash Federation (WSF) Ambassador Programme visit to Panama and Venezuela in June.

The Ambassador Programme is an international promotional initiative that was launched by WSF two years ago to promote the sport in countries where it is not traditionally played.

David will be accompanied on her visit, which will also help raise the sport's profile as it continues to bid for inclusion on the Olympic programme for 2020, to Panama and Venezuela by Egypt's former men's world junior champion and current world number six Mohamed El Shorbagy.

The visit to Panama and Venezuela comes following Ambassador Programme visits to Latvia in 2011 and both Malawi and Namibia last year.

The visit in June will see David and El Shorbagy integrate with the local squash communities in Panama City and the Venezuelan capital Caracas where they will provide clinics and exhibition matches.

Special coaching and refereeing workshops will also be hosted in Venezuela by leading coaches.

"To have these squash superstars coming to Panama will not only bring media interest here, but give our squash community an exciting opportunity to interact with them," said Panama's two-time national champion Pedro Altamiranda.

"It will help us bring new players into our wonderful sport."

Squash Venezuela President Francisco Paradisi is equally excited.

"We are very excited about the visit of the WSF Ambassadors group as this will bring us a unique opportunity to promote squash, especially among the girls," said Paradisi.

"I am sure it will be a great experience for squash and non-squash players."
