Gladiateurs de LavalApril 14 - Gladiateurs de Laval claimed gold at the 2013 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League National Championships in Montreal with a superb 72-52 win over provincial rivals Bulldogs de Québec.

Gladiateurs de Laval were spearheaded by David Eng - a key member of Canada's wheelchair basketball side that stormed to gold at the London 2012 Paralympics - who dominated the opposition to score 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the triple-triple to give the squad their third national championship title in history and their first since 1999.

"None of us were on the team that won in 1999 and we have been very close a lot of times," Eng said.

"So for the new generation of players to be able to win it in front of family and friends is incredible."

In the bronze medal game, the Nova Scotia Flying Wheels claimed a 68-46 triumph over the Tornade de CIVA.

Nova Scotia Flying Wheels were led by Canadian men's team star Adam Lancia, who scored a game-high 35 points and 17 rebounds.

The medal games concluded three days of intense wheelchair basketball competition in which the top seven club teams in Canada showcased their speed, skill and athleticism.

Maxime Poulin of the Bulldogs de Québec was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Ben Marston of the Nova Scotia Flying Wheels, Evan Fenrich of Saskatchewan Club '99, Ross MacDonald of the BC Royals, and Lancia and Eng were named in the tournament all-star team.
