Patrick Anderson profileApril 13 - Patrick Anderson and Janet McLachlan took the top male and female prizes respectively at the 2013 Wheelchair Basketball Canada annual awards banquet in Montreal while the men's London 2012 champions were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Anderson (pictured top) was unsurprisingly named Male Athlete of the Year after the 33-year-old from Alberta came out of retirement to spearhead his side to gold at London 2012 to cement his status as the best wheelchair basketball player in history as he took his third Paralympic gold medal.

Anderson's heroics helped his side secure inducted into the Wheelchair Basketball Canada Hall of Fame at the awards in recognition of their gold medal performance.

McLachlan was named Female Athlete of the Year after proving the shining star in the London 2012 women's side where she posted the most points and rebounds in the entire tournament despite Canada missing out on a medal.

Justin Johnson was named Junior Athlete of the Year for helping the men's under-23 team qualify for the 2013 World Junior Championships while the Leadership Excellence Award went to Yves Déziel for his work as a coach and volunteer.

Finally the True Sport Award went to Samuel Graham, a wheelchair basketball athlete from a young age, who Wheelchair Basketball Canada say has established himself as a beacon of positive energy both on and off the court.
