Trinity UniversityApril 4 - This year's United States Paralympics Track and Field National Championships will take place at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in June, it has been announced.

The event itself will act as the final qualifier for America's top disability athletes for the 2013 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Athletics Championships in Lyon.

The announcement was made by US Paralympics, the Paralympic division of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), where it was revealed that the competition will take place from June 14 until 16.

The meet comes with the 2013 IPC World Athletics Championships scheduled to take place from July 20 until 29.

Approximately 200 track and field athletes are expected to participate in the competition, including the likes of wheelchair racing star Tatyana McFadden, winner of three gold medals at London 2012.

Also in attendance is likely to be London 2012 100 metres T44 silver medallist Richard Browne, who is set to be Britain's Jonnie Peacock's biggest rival for gold in Lyon.

"Not only does Trinity University have a fast track, they also have great facilities for our field athletes," said the USOC director of high performance for Paralympic track and field Cathy Sellers.

"We're excited to bring our athletes to the great sports atmosphere of San Antonio before they take on the world in Lyon."

While the three-day event serves as a qualifier for the American athletes, it is also open to athletes from other countries.

At last year's trials in Indianapolis, Peacock broke the longstanding world record in the men's 100m T44 with a time of 10.85sec shortly before going onto take gold at London 2012.

However, the key focus is on the American's athletes as they look to build on a successful London 2012.

At the Paralympic Games, 18 American track and field athletes won a combined 28 medals, including nine golds between four athletes.

It saw the United States finish fourth on the athletics medal table behind China, Russia and Britain respectively.
