Liski snowboardingDecember 12 - Italian sports equipment company Liski has signed up to be an official supplier of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing, it was announced today.

The company will provide IPC Alpine Skiing with all necessary products for the sport, such as start tents, support poles, slalom poles and protection mattresses, in a deal that will last until the end of June 2014.

For the 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships from February 20 until 27, Liski will provide the safety netting for one of the training slopes at Spain's La Molina Ski Resort, which will be installed to stay at the training centre permanently.

Nearly 150 athletes from close to 40 countries are expected to take part in the event in what will be the biggest ski event before Sochi 2014.

Liski has served as the official supplier of many major international events on the able-bodied side of snow sport, including the last two Olympic Games at Turin in 2006 and Vancouver in 2010, the 2011 Snowboarding World Championships, the 2011 Nordic Skiing World Championships and various World Cup Alpine Promotion events.

"It is great to see the growth IPC Alpine Skiing has experienced the last couple of seasons and we are excited to invite Liski on board as the sport's official supplier in the lead up to the Sochi 2014 Games," said Sylvana Mestre, chair of the IPC Alpine Skiing Sport Technical Committee.
