Heralded as the most prestigious squash event of the season, some of the world's best players will compete at the finals from January 2 to 6.

Only the eight best performers from the World Series events on the PSA and the WSA (Women's Squash Association) tours will qualify for the finals.

Current world number one James Willstrop (pictured top), fellow Englishman and world champion Nick Matthew, and Ramy Ashour of Egypt, the previous world champion, will be competing in the men's player field.

Defending champion Nicol David of Malaysia, Raneem El Weleily of Egypt and British favourite Laura Massaro look likely to feature in the women's line-up.

The competition will take place in the spectacular glass Z-Court, designed to ensure uninterrupted 360 degree views of the action using the latest technology in glass construction.

Officials will be hoping that the event presents another opportunity to showcase squash's bid for inclusion on the Olympic programme in 2020.
