Gordon Reid_Oct_7October 7 - British stars dominated the medals at the PTR Championships at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, the precursor to the Super Series tour event taking place in St Louis next week.

Gordon Reid (pictured above), the world number nine, continued his unbeaten run in the singles and doubles at the tournament since 2009, dropping just three games as he reached the final.

There he defeated his doubles partner, the second seed and former world number one Stephen Welch 6-4, 6-2.

This was his fourth successive PTR Championship title.

Reid and Welch then teamed up to beat second seeds Steven Baldwin of the United States and France's Frédéric Cazeaudumec, 6-4, 6-2.

"This tournament has provided me with some great memories over the last four years and to stay unbeaten in four years in singles and doubles is something I am very proud of," said Reid.

"Along with my performances at the Paralympics, it's great preparation for next week's US Open Super Series tournament in St Louis."

Lucy Shuker_Oct_7Lucy Shuker was one of the four Britons who dominated play at the PTR Championships

Lucy Shuker, a double bronze medal winner at London 2012, lost only four games as she made it to the final of the women's singles, where she defeated her German doubles partner, the second seed Katharina Kruger, also 6-4, 6-2.

It was her third title in the tournament in the last four years.

Shuker and Kruger then teamed up to defeat Francisca Mardones of Chile and American Jessica Sporte 6-0, 6-2 for their fourth successive doubles title.

"After missing out in three close sets in last year's singles final I'm very happy to have regained the title and we were pretty dominant in the doubles, so it's a great way to start to the two weeks of tournaments in the USA and I'm confident going to St. Louis," said Shuker.

Antony Cotterill and Adam Field then won their semi final against American duo Bryan Barten and Eric Daniels 6-4, 6-3, to reach the final against second seeds Greg Hasterok and David Jordan.

The American pair gave Cotterill and Field a tough battle but the British duo won 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

The only title not going to a British player was the quad singles final, where Barten faced compatriot David Buck in an all American contest, and claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win.

However, the British stars will face a tougher test of their skills in the Super Series tournament in St Louis, where they will take on the world's top wheelchair tennis stars.
