london 2012_paralympic_tickets_31-07-121July 31 - London 2012 and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are pushing to sell the remaining tickets available for this summer's Paralympics.

Already 1.1 million tickets have been sold for the 300 ticketed sessions during the Games, with prices starting from £5 (€6/$8).

With the Olympic Games now well underway, London 2012 will hope the enthusiasm for the Games will carry over into the Paralympics – particularly with many fans unable to get tickets to see sports on the Olympic Park.

"The Paralympic Games are coming home in 2012 and I'm confident that the whole country will get behind them," London 2012 chairman Seb Coe said.

"Alongside the Games come a whole range of opportunities.

"People will have the chance to see sport like never before, with world class athletes who challenge the notion of disability.

"It's a huge opportunity for Paralympic sport to become part of the nation's consciousness and finally, it will be a moment of extraordinary pride.

"A fitting end to what promises to be an amazing summer."

From August 29, some 4,200 athletes will be competing in the Paralympics.

"The chance to see the biggest names in Paralympic sport in some of the best venues does not come round very often and this is an opportunity too good to miss for the British public," IPC President Sir Philip Craven said.
