Brazil 1_JulyJuly 1 - Brazil's Paralympic five-a-side football team have won a six team International Tournament in Madrid to underline their status as favourites at London 2012 this summer.

Ramón Pereira's side swept their opposition aside, winning four out of five games against their rivals; Argentina, Spain, China, France and England.

Hosts Spain crushed France 4-1 on the opening game of the tournament, with Brazil beating Argentina 2-0.

The South American rivals, who met in the final of Athens 2004, also met recently in a friendly tournament which Brazil also won.

Brazil (pictured) went on to beat Spain 2-0, England 5-1 and France 3-0, before losing their final game 1-0 to China.

That defeat did not end up costing Brazil though as they had a superior goal difference to Argentina, who finished on the same number of points.

Jeffinho, the world's top player, finished the competition as the top scorer with five goals, whilst goalkeeper Fabio only conceded twice.

It was invaluable preparation for Pereira, with all six teams in Madrid having qualified for London 2012.

Pereira's team are aiming for a third successive Paralympic gold in London, and Sandro Laina Soares, a member of the gold medal winning sides in 2004 and 2008, said that their feeling after the tournament was of "accomplishment."

He added that the team "has been well tested and are sure that the gold is possible.

"We'll still have a training phase, but what should be done is done already."
