Carlos Garletti_4_JuneJune 4 - Carlos Garletti will represent Brazil in the shooting competition at London 2012 after he secured the country's only Paralympic place in the sport.

Garletti (pictured top) qualified via the Copa Brazil in Curitiba which brought together 40 shooters from 10 states at the Santa Monica Country Club.

SH1 class performer Garletti's showing, where he shot 591 points, enabled him to secure the single spot available, and afterwards he spoke of his hopes that he can perform well in London this summer.

"I invested and devoted a lot to win this place," said the São Paulo shooter, who competed at the last Paralympic Games in Beijing.

"I have dedicated myself more to training since 2010 for London."

Garletti's appearance means that Sérgio Vida and Débora Campos both miss out on the chance to go to the Paralympics.

National shooting co-ordinator Felipe Dias indicated, however, that Campos' performance at the event put her in with a good chance of competing on home soil in Rio de Janeiro at the 2016 Paralympics.

Also impressing in Curitiba was Clenilza Gonçalves, who shot a Brazilian record in the SH1 air rifle standing  class with 358 points, beating Lucilene de Melo's previous best of 335.
