Sarah Storey_close_up_Los_Angeles_February_2012March 4 - Britain's Sarah Storey heads the five-strong all-female list for the February International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athlete of the Month, which has been selected in honour of International Women's Day on March 8, when the winner will be announced.

Storey unsurprisingly features after she cruised to gold medals in the 3 kilometres pursuit C5 and 500 metres time trial C5 and a silver in the mixed team sprint at the Para-Cycling Track World Championships in Los Angeles.

The British star is joined by Oksana Slesarenko of Russia who led her country to gold at the 2012 World Wheelchair Curling Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea, to give the country their first-ever medal in the sport on the international stage ahead of the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics.

Andrea Rothfuss of Germany also features after claimed six medals - four golds and two silvers - at the IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup while America's Laurie Stephens is included after she picked up two golds at the IPC Alpine Skiing NORAM Cup and then three golds at the IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup.

Nigeria's Grace Ebere Anozie is the penultimate name on the list after she took gold at the final London 2012 Powerlifting qualification event in the women's over 82.5kg with a lift of 168kg, which would be a new world record if ratified by the IPC.

The final entry on the list is Thailand's women's wheelchair tennis team who feature after the trio of Ratana Techamaneewat, Sakhorn Khanthasit and Chusri Inthanin qualified for the BNP Paribas World Cup this year with a top performance in the Asia/Oceania region.

The public can now voice its opinion for the winner via a poll on the homepage of the IPC's recently launched new-look website, www.paralympic.org.

Votes can be cast until 23:59 (CET) on March 7 with the winner announced the next day on International Women's Day.
