July 14 - Four time European champions FC Bayern Munich will demonstrate their support for the city's campaign to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics when they host a special match at the Allianz Arena next month to raise awareness of the bid.

The Fitness First Winterstars, which will be managed by Munich 2018 chief executive Willy Bogner, will play the Bundesliga champions on August 8.

Bogner's team is due to feature several Winter Olympic champions, as well as representatives from Fitness First.

Bogner said: "We need a strong team spirit to create a successful bid campaign.

"FC Bayern is a role model for building a successful team from passionate, motivated and talented individuals.

"We are delighted to have the support of FC Bayern Munich and Fitness First for this match and for the future of our bid."

The game, which marks the official opening of FC Bayern’s 2010/2011 season, will be broadcast live by German sports TV channel Sport 1.

Munich 2018 will be staging promotional events right outside Allianz Arena from 10am, before the stadium opens at 1.15pm.

Kick off will be at 2.30pm and the teams will play two halves of 20 minutes.
