A group of Japanese athletes visited Kitashiobara, a village in Fukushima Prefecture, for the latest leg of Olympic Day Festa.

The project, organised by the Japanese Olympic Committee, gives people in regions hit by what has become known as the Great East Japan Earthquake the chance to meet Olympians and try out their sport.

Around 60 people were at the Kitashiobara Villagers Gymnasium for the session.

Among the athletes was Mizuki Fujii, who won badminton women's doubles silver at London 2012.

She taught the youngsters the basics of the sport, including how to hold a racket.

Koki Niwa, who won table tennis men's singles gold at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, was also on hand to teach some skills.

Other sports played during the day included beach volleyball.
