Working under the umbrella of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the Sports Federations Valuation Standards Committee is hoping to encourage their improvements made across the country in recent years. 

The first meeting in Seef, in the capital Manama, was led by BOC sports affairs executive director and Committee chairman Jehad Khalfan.

Khalfan claimed the meeting was to discuss the standards set up to evaluate the sports federations, revealing all directorates were assigned to submit the technical, administrative and financial standards.

He added the Committee will continue to hold such meetings in order to reach the best standards, which are due to be submitted to the BOC general secretariat later in the year for approval.

The Committee will use the submissions from each sports federation to establish a winner of the of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Sports Excellence Award, named after the President of the BOC and member of the Bahraini Royal Family.

During the meeting, Khalfan stressed the significance of the award to boost the technical, financial and administrative performance of national sports federations as the nation continues to develop its sports movement, both domestically and worldwide.

He also called to the BOC to offer additional support and backing to all national federations in order to upgrade the performances of these federations, adding that the Awards should work as an incentive for these federations to apply the high standards laid out at the meetings, leading to a more competitive environment within Bahraini sports.

The Committee also includes deputy chairman Jalil Asad and members Salah Khodr, Lounes Madene, Hasan Abdullatif, Hamad Al Baker, Hamad Buhijji, Dalal Salama and Mohammed Al Kooheji.
