The 68-year-old Fok, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), was the only candidate and earned 57 of the 58 votes.

Fok is also vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of the Hong Kong, China, Football Association.

He also sits on the IOC's Coordination Commission for Rio 2016.

The unlucky candidate out of the nine who missed out on one of the eight vice-presidents positions was Perry Ho Kim Fai, who had been nominated by the Hong Kong China Rowing Association.

He polled only 20 votes.

Vivien Lau, Victor Hui, Karl Kwok, Tony Yue and Brian Stevenson were all re-elected and will be joined by Hu Shao Ming Herman, nominated by the Hong Kong Cycling Association; Pui Kwan Kay, nominated by the Judo Association of Hong Kong, China; and Tong Wai Lun, William, nominated by the Hong Kong Badminton Association.

Pang Chung and Derrick Wong were re-elected as honorary secretary general and treasurer respectively.

Ronnie Wong, Professor Leung Mee Lee and Kenneth Fok, Timothy's son who is married to China's four-time Olympic diving champion Guo Jingjing, were all re-elected as honorary deputy secretaries general.
