The 2015 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival is less than one month away ©EYOF2015The 2015 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein is set to get underway in less than a month's time as organisers complete their final preparations for the multi-sport event. 

The Opening Ceremony is due to take place at the Montafon Nordic Centre in Tschagguns on January 25, and will be attended by Austria's Federal President Heinz Fischer and Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein, among others. 

The event, due to conclude on January 30, will see 900 athletes from 45 nations compete in eight disciplines.

The 14 to 18-year-olds will be vying for medals in Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping and snowboarding.

"We want to create a memorable sport event with a great social programme for all visitors, guests, athletes, officials and our 1200 volunteers", said EYOF 2015 chief executive Philipp Groborsch.

The first winter edition of the EYOF was held in the Italian region of Aosta Valley in 1993, while the most recent edition was held in Brasov, Romania, in February 2013.

The 2015 edition will mark the first time an Olympic event has been jointly hosted by two countries.

Admission for the Opening Ceremony is free of charge and visitors are asked to use public transport to travel to Tschagguns.
